Consisting of eight events for the men and five for the women, the King/Queen Of Wake title is awarded to the rider with a cumulative, season-long point total higher than everyone else. Winning it puts you in a category of wake royalty. As a competitive wakeboarder, this is the pinnacle.

For the fifth time, Phil Soven found himself with the crown again in 2013. And he is more proud of this season than any other in his illustrious career, “This was, by far, the most intense season of riding,” Phil said. “Training behind my WAKESETTER 22 MXZ gave me a huge advantage. Now that the season is over, I can’t wait to spend some time trying new tricks behind my new 24 MXZ. Congrats to my teammate Amber Wing on being the Queen. Malibu Pro Team taking the sweep!”

Amber was pleasantly surprised to win her second Queen Of Wake season title. In 2013, her focus was on all aspects of her riding and becoming more of an ambassador for other pro women. “I’ve been spending a lot of time on my ‘Sets In Motion’ online video series and becoming a better all-around rider,” Amber said. “But as the contest season progressed, I found myself with two Pro Tour wins and leading the Queen Of Wake rankings. I was nervous heading into Worlds, knowing that I needed a solid finish. So placing second at Worlds and winning this title capped off a very fulfilling year.”
