Kicking off the 2018 contest season, Family Power Sports Lubbock and Malibu Boats sponsored the first annual Wake the Canyon event at Buffalo Bay Marina April 7th and 8th. Malibu athlete Jeff Langley and Axis Wake Research athlete Tony Carroll were on hand all weekend in west Texas coaching, driving, judging and riding.

Fans were in store for a big day of action on Sunday as the chilly morning kicked off with the air chair divisions. The Malibu M235 provided a killer wake for some of the best air chair action ever seen in competition. On the wakeboard side, the collegiate teams came out in huge numbers to compete. Athletes from Arizona States, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and more battled it out in the amateur divisions. But crowds swelled to catch the intense pro division at the end of the day. At the end Tony Carroll just edged out Jeff Langley to take first place and $5,000 home.
