Loudon, TN | August 22, 2017 -- Malibu Boats, the global leader in watersports towboat sales, has introduced the new Wakesetter 22 MXZ and 24 MXZ models for 2018, further advancing the brand’s global leadership in wake and surf technology. A new MaxBallast system with an industry-first gauging feature enables the highest level of wake and wave customization ever.

Both 2018 MXZ models are distinguished by a sleek pickle-fork design that delivers an exceptionally spacious front lounge area with a folding bow ladder. The 22 MXZ seats up to 15, while the larger 24 MXZ can accommodate up to 18 and offers generous storage for a full day of watersports activities. Malibu’s exclusive and unmatched Integrated Surf Platform (I.S.P.) technology creates huge wakes and surfable, customizable waves.

The MXZ models are renowned for providing exceptional agility, laser-like tracking and a smooth, stable ride. Meanwhile, they are brimming with luxury Malibu appointments like a walkthrough transom, rear WakeView seating, a plush wraparound interior, ultra-comfortable SeaDek flooring and hand-stitched upholstery. MXZ SERIES WALK THROUGH

New MaxBallast System

Both the 22 MXZ and 24 MXZ models feature Malibu’s innovative, all-new MaxBallast system with L-shaped rear ballast tanks. The latest advancement to the exclusive I.S.P., MaxBallast increases ballast capacity while enabling an unprecedented degree of wake and wave customization.

The new L-shape rear ballast tanks expand the maximum capacity to help create the biggest, cleanest wakes and waves. In addition, the optional Plug-n-Play bags fill up simultaneously with the hard tanks, utilizing an industry-first gauging system to track water height in the tank and the soft bag.

Combined with MaxBallast, the I.S.P.’s hydraulic Power Wedge II hydrofoil makes an even bigger impact for wake creation. The driver enjoys effortless control of the ballast system and I.S.P. settings via the 12-inch Viper II Command Center touchscreen.

Unmatched Wave and Wake Customization

Only Malibu offers the exclusive I.S.P. wave and wake customization system, transforming the water into the ultimate wakeboarding and surfing experience. This comprehensive system of wake and wave technologies starts with the deeper, streamlined and transcendent Wake Plus Hull.

Then, the Power Wedge II hydrofoil can instantly add up to 1,500 pounds of additional water displacement with seven unique positions for a fully custom wake. Power Wedge II offers the widest range of adjustment on the market to customize the size, length and shape of the wave, from Beginner to Advanced, all at the tap of a finger on the Viper II touchscreen. The optional Sport Dash rotary dial also controls the Power Wedge II.

For wake surfing, nothing can match the wave-making capability of Malibu’s revolutionary and patented Surf GateTM. A tap on the Viper II Command Center engages the high-speed, hydraulic Surf Gate, customizing the wake into a big, barreling surf wave on either side of the boat. Malibu optimizes Surf Gate for each model.

The Surf Band wrist remote lets the rider adjust the Power Wedge II, Surf Gate, and boat speed right from the water. For 2018, Surf Band also controls tower speaker volume.

The Illusion G3.5 tower comes standard on both MXZ models, while the advanced G4 tower—featuring aerospace aluminum construction—is an optional upgrade. Both towers feature an easy-to-use folding latch, powerful lights and multiple speaker options.

The 22 MXZ comes standard with the 410 lbs.-ft. Monsoon engine, while the larger 24 MXZ gets the 450 lbs.-ft. version and can be optioned with the 575 lbs.-ft. supercharged edition. The new MaliBoost Directional Docking & Maneuvering system is also an option on the 24 MXZ, enabling precision control in close quarters.

Like all 2018 Malibu towboats, the 22 MXZ and 24 MXZ models are backed by an industry-best five-year warranty, including lifetime hull coverage. Both MXZ models are available now from all authorized Malibu dealers.
