Loudon, TN | March 11, 2019 -- Malibu Boats™, the global leader in towboat sales was recently represented by CEO Jack Springer and VP of Sales and Marketing Eric Bondy on the Fox Business Network. The show was hosted by business mogul and one-time pin-up model Kathy Ireland and involved an overview of Malibu’s history and future with the savvy businesswoman, who herself helms a $2.5 billion retail licensing empire.

Talking scale, Ireland was impressed to hear Malibu was started by six friends with a passion for watersports and is now the volume leader in the towboat segment.

“In today’s world we actually function on seven different facilities,” said Bondy. “Six here in the United States and one in Australia, and so from a manufacturing footprint [we have] dramatically grown over the years. We also do business with 300 business partners throughout the world in our dealer network and so that’s how we serve our customers is partnering with great dealers all throughout the world.”

Having built her business on about 17,000 retail products ranging from socks to ceiling fans, Ireland was also interested to hear about Malibu’s design process, which is leaner and more efficient than any other inboard boat company.

“[The Malibu design process] is very focused,” said Springer. “In a lot of companies, you’ll have engineering that really drives design—or maybe sales and marketing—but what we’ve done is everyone has a seat at the table. So if you look at the functional areas of engineering, operations, quality, and even finance, we all have a seat at the table and we’re developing that product all together.”
