Your Malibu Boats™ audio has never sounded better, but we didn’t change a thing on the sound system itself. The foundation to a quiet engine is direct injection, which shoots fuel into the combustion chamber at higher compression, making for a more complete, controlled and quiet burn. This is only possible with a direct injection engine. You either have it or you don’t, and Malibu’s new Monsoon line has it.

But Malibu didn’t stop there. Acoustic foam fills key areas, reducing or eliminating the engine noise and vibration that contribute to that exhausted feeling at the end of the day. Additionally, the new Monsoons feature cast-iron manifolds that wrap entirely around the cylinder heads, creating a noise barrier that keeps the sound in the engine compartment where it’s meant to be, rather than circulating out around the lounge.

To accomplish this, Malibu purchased a 70,000 square foot building next door to its boat building plant in Tennessee. It was then converted from an empty shell to a state-of-the-art engine manufacturing plant with everything necessary to take an engine from a block to the most tech-forward engine the towboat segment has ever seen. Thousands of hours went into research and development, and besides the performance improvement, emissions reduction, fuel-savings and reliability, massive reduction of the overall noise, vibration and harshness was part of the goal. In fact, the new Monsoon line is over 10 decibels quieter than most towboats on the water today.
